Tournaments

Location: Exton Hotel, 815 N. Pottstown Pike, Exton, PA
Date: Saturday November 7, 2026
Times:         SECTIONS K-3 U200 & K-5 U400  9:00 AM - approximately noon

                    SECTIONS K-12 U700 & K-12 OPEN  1:00 PM - approximately 5:30 PM

This tournament has four different sections to accommodate players of differing ages and skills.  Children play against opponents in their section.  The two lower sections will play in the morning, the two upper sections will play in the afternoon.  Each session will conclude with an awards ceremony where the top players and school teams receive trophies.

All games are non-elimination, and all players participate in all four rounds.  For players using chess clocks, the time control is G/25, d/5. 

Sections: 
K-3 U-200 Section This section is for children Grades K to 3 with ratings under 200 or new, unrated players.  This is the BEGINNERS section and plays in the morning.

K-5 U-400 Section  This section is for children Grades K to 5 rated 200 to 399 and plays in the morning.  

K-12 U-700 Section  This section is for children Grades K to 12 rated 400 to 699 and/or players in Grades 6 to 12.  This section plays in the afternoon.

K-12 Open/Championship Section  This section is open for children Grades K to 12 rated 700 or higher and/or players in Grades 6 to 12. This is the most ADVANCED section of play and will compete in the afternoon.  

Anyone who wants a greater challenge may choose to play in a higher-rated section than the lowest for which he/she is eligible.  Competing in a section below one's rating or grade is not permitted.  Given the time of day that differing sections play, it is important that you confirm the player's rating prior to selecting a section.   

United States Chess Federation (USCF) membership is required for all participants, and can be purchased along with tournament registration. Online registration is $42 before 9PM Wednesday, November 4, $47 before 9PM Friday, November 6.  Registration will close 9PM November 6 or sooner if the roster is full.    

Chess sets are provided, but bring a clock if you have one.

Regarding Byes....If you anticipate that you will not be there in time, or need to leave the tournament early, please indicate which game(s) you will be missing.  Your child will NOT be paired for those games if you indicate you want a Bye.  The player receives a half-point for the skipped game, and will be paired as usual for the other rounds. Children may take a maximum of two half-point Byes in a four round tournament.  Additional Byes will be zero points.  Byes must be scheduled before the tournament begins.
